What do you mean by "international SMS"? Please explain.

If you mean sending SMS to some other country, then there is no difference
with sending SMS inside the country.
You just specify the number in full format, i.e +[Country code][Area
code][Phone number]. You can also use 00 instead of +

But, it is upto your phone operator whether the SMS can be delivered or not.
Not all operators can send SMS to all foreign operators.
But, if you can send SMS normally from Phone's sms option to that number,
you can send from your application also.

1. boot speed -- scan package, IO buffering, and prefetch

It seems package scanning speed is greatly influenced by IO buffering:

I did some simple experiment. I am testing with a fresh build so there
are NO apps under /data/app.

First boot up the phone. Then do either (A) or (B):

# stop
# sync; echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches
# start

# stop
# sync; echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches
# cat /system/app/*.apk > /dev/null
# start

case (A): I/PackageManager( 3114): Time to scan packages: 12.668
case (B): I/PackageManager( 3189): Time to scan packages: 7.032

Can PackageManagerService be easily reworked so that it pre-fetches
the buffers for the "next app to scan" in a separate thread?

I can't just blindly run a "cat /system/app/*.apk > /dev/null" before
package scanning happens, because doing so would cost more time than
the saving indicated from above ....

I have long had my WAP pages built and had my URL launchers built by

How do I open the .apk file in my eclipse environment to make the

The Android Market says the following when I attempt to upload my .apk

a new certificate that is valid for at least 50 years.
Market requires that the certificate used to sign the apk be valid
until at least October 22, 2033. Create a new certificate.
Market requires the minSdkVersion to be set to a positive 32-bit
