There is hope yet. This line makes me think that maybe some of the more
important problems will be adressed:

"With this release, we aimed to deliver features that are most
requested by users and developers. However, wee not done yet. We plan
to continue to rapidly enhance Android Market for both users and
developers and make it the best content distribution service for the
Android ecosystem."

Very much looking forward to what they do come up with.

Basic stuff: You know the little window on the upper right of Payout
screens. It shows a line "Previous Month Sales", but there is
absolutely no way to drill down to see how they came up with the
number. Yesterday I was trying to reconcile it, but, for the life of
me, I couldn't come up with the same number.

Haha.. I'm only 4 days into a paid app!

Already I'm thinking of writing some software to scrape the
transactions out of Checkout so I can actually get some useful
information.

I don't support someone has already done that?

Actually, someone has: http://www.mopapp.com/

I haven't felt the need to sign up with them myself, but others on this
group speak highly of their service.

Very cool... works pretty well, but the data i really want simply isn't
provided by the market or checkout.

It is nice to get reports on revenue, but what I'm after is what the
impact of changes will be on my users. I need to know what devices are
used, what versions of the OS they are using etc.

For me it's more about making sure I support my users as new features
start coming out. When can I make the minimum SDK 8 instead of 7 etc.

For that data, google is going to have to step up.

For that data, you can use Flurry or Google Analytics.

 You said that before.
How do you use Google Analytics from inside an Android app or inside
the market?
I already track those users who hit my site with the docs, but that
will not be a very accurate breakdown.

Is there some way to hook Analytics tot he Market?

Not that I'm aware of - but you can use other sites, like AppBrain, that
have download and ratings stats.

2. Code example on possibilities of android . permission . STATUS_BAR?

Hi,

The following page seems to imply that it's possible to hide icons on
the status bar, but I can't seem to find information or examples that
show which icons you can disable, and what is meant by opening or
closing the status bar.

http://developer.android.com/reference/android/Manifest.permission.html#STATUS_BAR:
"Allows an application to open, close, or disable the status bar and
its icons.".

I'm looking for code examples to use this permission.

I hope somebody would be able to enlighten me by providing some
answers or pointers on where to look.

Thanks in advance,
