I have eclipse with Java installed.

I used help>install new software to get the ADT plugin for Mac. The
download operation completed but did not tell me where the files were
placed.

The help>install new software>already installed? link seems to
indicate that the following software were installed: Android DDMS,
Android Development Tools, Android Hierarchy Viewer

But, since I do not know where the SDK were unpacked, I am unable to
set the path for the SDK location at eclipse>preferences>android

What is the default location for mac?

The plugin doesn't contain the SDK, You have to download and unzip it
separately.

1. changing string resources

I have read the following from the online doc:

You can supply different resources for your product according to the
UI language or hardware configuration on the device. Note that
although you can include different string, layout, and other
resources, the SDK does not expose methods to let you specify which
alternate resource set to load. Android detects the proper set for the
hardware and location, and loads them as appropriate. Users can select
alternate language settings using the settings panel on the device.

To include alternate resources, create parallel resource folders with
qualifiers appended to the folder names, indicating the configuration
it applies to (language, screen orientation, and so on). For example,
here is a project that holds one string resource file for English, and
another for French:

MyApp/
    res/
        values-en/
            strings.xml
        values-fr/
            strings.xml

However, we are trying to build an app that allows the user to
dynamically change the language the UI and content is presented in. I
realize I could roll-my-own implementation but I was hoping there was
a standard way to support changing the locale. Everything else seems
so well thought out in this platform that I figured before I port my
Window Mobile code to do this I would check with the experts ;)

thanks,
Mark
