 I'm looking at an app where I will really need to support PUSH
notifications.
After a bunch of Google searches - I'm generally confused as to the state of
PUSH support on Android.
IS there a standard way of doing it yet?
Preferably on 2.1?

 C2DM is only available for 2.2 and up. There is no direct way, or already
cooked up apis in older versions which you can use.

 I was under the impression that it was still in lab mode.
You can ask to join, which I did but I'm hesitent to release anything
that uses it until its released.

1. Error early in development

When I try to set up the AVD I get the error:

Error generating final archive: Unable to get the home directory. Make
sure the user.home property is set up.

Any clues on what I can do to fix this? I get the same error when I
try running the Hello World program. (I'm using eclipse galileo for
development)

When I call:

SensorManager sm = (SensorManager) getSystemService
(Context.SENSOR_SERVICE);
List<Sensor> sl = sm.getSensorList(SensorManager.SENSOR_ALL);

The list count returns 0 in both the emulator running under Eclipse
and on the device. I don't know whether or not the emulator has
sensors but shouldn't the device at least return 1 for the
accelerometer?
