 hi all,

I followed the site bellow to download the kernel code,
 http://android.git.kernel.org/?p=kernel/common.git ;a=summary

from the instruction,
===============
To clone the entire platform, install repo, and run:
mkdir mydroid
cd mydroid
repo init -u git://android.git.kernel.org/platform/manifest.git
repo sync
===============

I got nothing from "mydroid" folder,
especially there is not "kernel" sub-folder under mydroid folder?

is my idea wrong?

thanks!

Hi: The kernel source is not included in platform source code. Download the
Android kernel you can see:

1. How to change widget layout background or hide it dynamically?

I have a simple layout:
<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/
android"
                android:background="@drawable/background"
        android:layout_height="fill_parent"
        android:layout_width="wrap_content"
        android:orientation="vertical">

In my method onUpdate I can get the remote view:

RemoteViews remoteView = new RemoteViews(context.getPackageName(),
R.layout.somelayout");

I cannot find any information on how to change or hide the background
image.

2. Hiding word suggestions/hints above the soft keyboard

This doesn't happen in any Android emulator that I'm using, but on my
G1, whenever I set up an activity with an EditText inside it, and tap
that EditText, it brings up the soft keyboard like it should, but as I
start typing, the word suggestions/hints view pops up, with words that
may or may not have anything to do with my app (which is essentially
why I have a problem with this).

Can we hide this word suggestions/hints view above this keyboard? Why
is it on the keyboard on devices, and not on the emulator? Do I need
to refer to the softkeyboard example in the SDK, and build my own
keyboard view?

Furthermore, I noticed that when you type in the Google Search widget
on your phone's home screen, it does not pop up this word suggestions
view. This is the behavior I want in my app.

Thank you very much for any insight you can give regarding my
questions! :)
