ADP1 not listed in ubuntu by adb

 I was able to get my ADP1 to talk to me by enabling debugging mode on
the phone itself (settings->applications).

You may also have to run adb as root.

1. How to get service state?

I'm trying to get current service state of my phone (IN_SERVICE,
OUT_OF_SERVICE, EMERGENCY_ONLY, POWER_OFF). It can be easily fetched
with getState() method of ServiceState when a onServiceStateChanged
(ServiceState serviceState) callback is invoked:

public class ServiceStateListener extends PhoneStateListener{
            public void onServiceStateChanged(ServiceState serviceState) {
                                case ServiceState.STATE_IN_SERVICE:
                                        Log.i("Listener", "In Service");
                                case ServiceState.STATE_EMERGENCY_ONLY:
                                        Log.i("Listener", "Emergency");
                                case ServiceState.STATE_OUT_OF_SERVICE:
                                        Log.i("Listener", "Out Of Service");
                                case ServiceState.STATE_POWER_OFF:
                                        Log.i("Listener", "Phone Off");

But if you explicitly create a ServiceState object and try to get it's
state. It's always Out Of Service (returns 1), no matter what state
your phone is in right now:

public void onCreate() {
        ServiceState serviceState = new ServiceState();
        Log.i("onCreate", Integer.toString(serviceState.getState()));

I don't have much experience with Android. Any help is appreciated.

2. Live Video Zooming

I am novice programmer in android

I need to built an application on the Google Android platform that
zooms into the live stream received by the device camera to enable
the observer to observe intricate details about the object from a
distance, and thereby be able to use the camera as a magnifying lens.

I searched on google but could not found much details. Only I could
found is that I need to overriding the onPreviewFrame method as shown

camera.setPreviewCallback(new PreviewCallback() {

  public void onPreviewFrame(byte[] _data, Camera _camera) {
   // TODO Do something with the preview image.
   //write here logic for zooming each image.

Let me know how this can be achieve.
