 i All,

I have ported android on i.MX31 PDK target, it is booting , but I am only
getting "Android... " on bootup , I am unable to see android logo nor it is
further booting up !

I did logcat to extract some of the messages, I found these messages which I
have pasted were repeating again n again, I dont have any idea at these Java
based messages, if any one gives me some pointer on where the things r going
wrong, it would be higly appreciated.

I am using android /System folder as CRAMFS and /data folder as JFFS2 , both
r mounted.

Android Booting Problem on Real Target

 ello,

Your DATA partition must support writable mmap. This is not the case
with jffs2!
Use YAFFS2 instead and this should work. You won't have 'unable to
mmap DEX cache: Invalid argument' message and you should be able to
boot.

Hope this helps,

Thomas

 i,
I forgot to tell you to mount data partition rw, but this is an evidence
isn't it?

 i Rajesh,

Sorry for the late reply.

Yes it might be the problem of file system type. utry using yaffs filesystem
with ext3 formatting.

Nimit

Other Threads

1. SurfaceViews handling, Thread, and general game design

I very strongly recommend that you don't use multiple surface views. A
surface view is a very heavy-weight object, and intended for the primary
area of the window -- for example, the video part of a video player, the
playfield of a game, etc. It is basically an overlay, and actually its own
separate full window that is simply being Z-ordered with your main window to
make it look like they are related.

I don't know what your "complicated" animation sequence is, but just having
some animation is not enough reason to use a surface view. Worst case, you
can just create an off-screen bitmap that you draw the animation in and
update the screen by drawing that bitmap to the screen with the normal
invalidate() mechanism. If you need the performance of a surface view, then
you should design your game so that your entire playfield is on surface
view, and you take care of drawing each of your boxes inside of that and
manage them however you want (not as their own views).
