 Hello,

Can some one please let me know how to simulate SIM in the Emulator?

I've seen the below information (* A GSM modem, including a simulated
SIM Card) @  http://code.google.com/android/reference/emulator.html #telephony:

    >>Adding custom capabilities to the underlying QEMU services, the
Android emulator supports many hardware
    >>features likely to be found on mobile devices, including:

        >>* An ARMv5 CPU and the corresponding memory-management unit
(MMU)
        >>* A 16-bit LCD display
        >>* One or more keyboards (a Qwerty-based keyboard and
associated Dpad/Phone buttons)
        >>* A sound chip with output and input capabilities
        >>* Flash memory partitions (emulated through disk image files
on the development machine)
        >>* A GSM modem, including a simulated SIM Card

But, could not get any details to do the same.

Can some one please help to get the details?

Thanks in advance

How to Simulate the SIM in the emulator

 have a look at android/external/qemu/telephony/sim_card.c in the open-source
tree

this is the current implementation of the SIM Card. As you can see, it's
pretty static at
the moment. Feel free to patch it to your liking.

Regards

How to Simulate the SIM in the emulator

by VVPrasad Chalumuri » Mon, 01 Dec 2008 06:40:50 GMT

 Hi, David Turner,

Thanks a lot for the information.

But, currently I do not have the source code. I've the SDK set up on the
Windows PC. I need to simulate the SIM on the emulator to check how to copy
contacts from SIM to phone from a new application.

Can you please suggest how to simulate the SIM on the emulator?

Thanks

 well, I'm sorry but the current SDK's implementation doesn't support this
(though there is already a bug filed for it).

 Has there been any updates to this?

I too am anxiously waiting for the ability to simulate the SIM card in
order to gain access to the contacts information.

1. Perform an action when switching between different operators

Hi,
I would like to develop an application that performs some actions when
the current active operator changes.
My goal is to apply some settings in the exact same moment of the
switch, so I would like to avoid polling (also for performance/battery
reasons).
How could I do that? I found nothing in the documentation but maybe I
wasn't looking at the right place.
Thanks.

2. [L25.8] Nagging pop-up error message

Hi,

After the kernel and filesystem get loaded on the Zoom2 board, the
Display Device shows up a pop-up, nagging error message for almost every
key-press / touch-screen press. The message reads as below.

Sorry!

The application Sample Soft Keyboard (process
com.example.android.softkeyboard) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try
again.

Has anyone faced a similar problem on L25.8 or any other version? If so,
please let me know what the problem was.

I'm using kernel android-2.6.27.

I'm using the following bootargs. Could there be any problem?

bootdelay=3

baudrate=115200

ipaddr=128.247.77.90

serverip=128.247.77.158

netmask=255.255.254.0

bootfile="uImage"

bootargs=console=ttyS3,115200n8 root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rw rootdelay=3
mem=256M init=/init

bootcmd=mmcinit; fatload mmc 0 0x80c00000 uImage; bootm 0x80c00000

stdin=serial

stdout=serial

stderr=serial

Environment size: 307/131068 bytes
