 Hello,

Can some one please let me know how to simulate SIM in the Emulator?

I've seen the below information (* A GSM modem, including a simulated
SIM Card) @  http://code.google.com/android/reference/emulator.html #telephony:

    >>Adding custom capabilities to the underlying QEMU services, the
Android emulator supports many hardware
    >>features likely to be found on mobile devices, including:

        >>* An ARMv5 CPU and the corresponding memory-management unit
(MMU)
        >>* A 16-bit LCD display
        >>* One or more keyboards (a Qwerty-based keyboard and
associated Dpad/Phone buttons)
        >>* A sound chip with output and input capabilities
        >>* Flash memory partitions (emulated through disk image files
on the development machine)
        >>* A GSM modem, including a simulated SIM Card

But, could not get any details to do the same.

Can some one please help to get the details?

Thanks in advance

 have a look at android/external/qemu/telephony/sim_card.c in the open-source
tree

this is the current implementation of the SIM Card. As you can see, it's
pretty static at
the moment. Feel free to patch it to your liking.

Regards

How to Simulate the SIM in the emulator

by VVPrasad Chalumuri » Mon, 01 Dec 2008 06:40:50 GMT

 Hi, David Turner,

Thanks a lot for the information.

But, currently I do not have the source code. I've the SDK set up on the
Windows PC. I need to simulate the SIM on the emulator to check how to copy
contacts from SIM to phone from a new application.

Can you please suggest how to simulate the SIM on the emulator?

Thanks

 well, I'm sorry but the current SDK's implementation doesn't support this
(though there is already a bug filed for it).

 Has there been any updates to this?

I too am anxiously waiting for the ability to simulate the SIM card in
order to gain access to the contacts information.

1. documentation and samples downloaded but not accessable inside eclipse

I have installed Eclipse Galieo 3.5 which works fine. I have installed
Android 3.0. The Android classes are in the IDE and you can create a
shell application.

However, neither the inline documentation or sample code is in the
IDE when they are present inside the Android folder structure in
'Program Files'.

How can I get the documentation and samples accessable inside the Eclipse IDE?

2. Create Image from String

Hi,

I am trying to depict on the screen the image I receive from my
neighbour via a text message. I mean, the other node sends me a
message where an image is encode (I can read the PNG header, ...) and
now I want to show it on the screen, but it doesn't appear nothing. I
must be doing something wrong .

Here is my code:

ImageView img = (ImageView)
this.findViewById(R.id.DTNApps_DTNReceive_ImageView);

byte[] bytes = input.getBytes("US-ASCII");
InputStream in = new BufferedInputStream(new
ByteArrayInputStream(bytes));

Drawable drw = Drawable.createFromStream(in, "src");
img.setImageDrawable(drw);

As I said, nothing appears on the screen. The img hsa a correct value
since I try
"img.setImageDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.sample_0));"
and shows the picture.

Can anyone help me??

Bye and thanks for your time.
