Statusbar source code in android

The status bar does not have an "androidmanifest.xml file". The status
bar is part of the operating system -- it is not an application.

Questions regarding modifying the firmware for your own devices should
go to the [android-porting] Google Group.

Article here:

Assuming this is all correct - as far as Android is concerned, the
obvious question is whether it will have an impact on the Maps API

Anybody at Google willing to share if we can expect modifications, in
particular to allow turn-by-turn instructions and apps that support
the business use of sensor-based/map-based apps (for logistics

2. Locale for Spanish missing?

I am interfacing with the Text Synthesis engine of 1.6. I am trying
to set the language to Spanish. I can set it to English, German,
French and Italian, but Spanish does not come up as an option.

myTts.setLanguage(Locale.SPANISH); // this does not work
myTts.setLanguage(Locale.GERMAN); // this works along with ENGLISH,

Seems like it should be there. Is that a known bug? I have looked
the forums, can't find anything. I can set it to SPANISH
through the settings interface on the phone, but need to set it
Please advise.
