I am using v0.9 beta SDK, got the following warning when I call
SystemClock.setCurrentTimeMillis()

WARN/SystemClock(516): Unable to open alarm driver: Permission denied

Does anyone know which permission should be specified?

User apps cannot set the time. Only the system processes can. This is for
security, but also because it won't have much effect--the time is reset from
the radio via network time.

1. Experiencing android sdk m5-rc15: terrible DNS resolution provoking network errors :(

According to a post that reads note on DNS resolution€ android-em
only sees and uses a single DNS server: the top one in your network
configuration list. Sometimes, you should change the first entry to
find a better DNS server for matching pairs hostname-ip.

Ie tried this, but I can still access the internet with my android-
em. on the other hand, I can access some websites by just typing their
ip addresses, while can access some others with their single ip
addresses
* one note: working on internals is not my goal :(
* one conclusion: I can develop internet-based apps on android :(
* one desire: getting a superb answer for fixing it <<soon>>

2. Bug in date picker?

Hi,

It appears that there is a bug in the date picker.
Description: I am using the apk TooDo submitted by Edouard Mercier
(http://edouardmercier.fr/toodo/download) and found out that when I
try to select Monday April 21, the date picker shows April 22 for
Monday: http://coreintent.googlepages.com/wrongdate.jpg

Therefore, it seems like the headings of the days are off by one day,
i.e. instead of S M T W T F S it appears that it should be M T W T F S
S ?

I reported it to Edouard and he checked his code and he replied:

     - Regarding the time displayed on the date picker, I use the
Android
default control, so I guess that the bug is not on my side...

Cheers,

Omar

PS: Also, as pointed out by Edouard, the time in the emulator was off
from the 'correct time', about 4 hours ahead of the PC time. Setting
it up to April 22 2008, 15:20 requires a somehow tricky to find
format:

date -s 20080422.152000
