We need to buy some phones for android development for our university.
As it is not for personal use and only for android development for
students we prefer NO service plan or two year contract. We plan to
buy few Motorola Droid and HTC G1 initially and other android phones
in near future.

Can you Please Suggest where can we buy Android phones.

Please add your comments and viewpoints.

Thank you

2. Support for hardware video decoding/encoding

Hi all, I'm new to this group.
I have an HTC hero and I wonder how does android support hardware
ccelerated video decoding.
My question stems from the fact that the phone gets pretty hot while
playing h264 streams, which leads me to suppose software decoding, and
is quite limited on what video formats and sizes it plays, often
resulting in choppy media experience.

On the other hand, other phones ie the HTC touch hd, while running on
the same exact platform (qct msm720x), are reportedly capable of
playing h264 streams bigger than wvga resolution and at higher
bitrates in a lag free fashion. It can be seen on YouTube too.

So ... How does Android fare?
