 I've downloaded the source, used the instructions to get the
"proprietary files" from the vendors directory and built as per the
instructions on the Android site.

I'm not really sure if it works and don't dare flash my own phone cos
I'd rather not spend a few days running from forum to site to figure
out how to get the phone up and running again in case I brick it.

If anyone wants a copy, feel free to get in touch.

Sunil

1. MediaPlayer sound problem

Hello.

I have this task:
Need to play short (0.3-0.4 sec) sounds all the time. When sound is
played, it should start again, etc. User can press button to reset
sound - it should stop and lunch.

I did many tests. I tried to create 1 MediaPlayer, then do this:
        MediaPlayer.OnCompletionListener complListener = new
MediaPlayer.OnCompletionListener()
        {
                public void onCompletion(MediaPlayer mp) {
                        lunchSound(); // "rewind"
                }
        };

        private boolean lunchSound()
        {
                try
                {
                        mplayer.seekTo(0); // move to start
                        mplayer.start();
                        return true;
                }catch(Exception e){}
                return false;
        }
When user press button, I call lunchSound();

It works great on emulator and on device if I have eclipse+de{*filter*}
on.
When I disconnect de{*filter*}, I have very strange errors - sound can
stop at all (till program restart), sound can start "repeating" (play
0.1-0.2 sec, then restart). Can someone please provide me some info
about problem?
Thanks.

2. Capturing exceptions on user's phones?

We all know what its like - everything works perfect on the dev's
phone, but once you roll something out, user's complain about the
dreaded force close!!

Sometimes its just on one or two phones, but wouldn't it be good if we
could get some kind of stack trace to see whats really going on?

Obviously we can't speak to our users in person or play with their
phones, so we need some way of getting error diagnostics off their
phone and onto the dev's computer.

I was thinking along the lines of apps having a generic exception
handler which could store the stack trace and then maybe upload to a
web server so that the dev can take a look - anyone achieved something
like this?

Maybe the SDK should (or already does?) support something like this -
I think it will benefit developers and users enormously!!
