 Hi All,

I have to write an application which starts a service. There will be
other applications which have to use the service.

My questions are
Is it possible to write an application that only starts service and
finishes with the service running??
How can i communicate from the different applications to the service??
Is it possible to expose an interface from the service so that
application can pass data to the service??

Thanks in advance

Multiple Applications using single service

I am sure this is possible. I think if from your main activity you start the
service, then finish() on the activity..the app that you launched goes away
(activity is done) but the service you started still runs. Not for sure
tho.. haven't messed around with that yet.

1. textNoSuggestions fails on emulator

I'm using android:inputType="textNoSuggestions" in an EditText to turn
off the automatic completion suggestions. The emulator continues to
provide suggestions but the suggestions are off when the application
is run on a real device. Is this a known bug with the emulator and if
so, how can I get a fix? Thanks.

2. Emma Failed to dump coverage data on 2.3 emulator

We put Emma in our build script to get unit test code coverage report.
It ran fine with earlier version of Android SDK and Emulator 1.5 (API
3). But failed to dump coverage data on 2.3 SDK and emulator. No file was generated.
Any thing changed for Emma support in Android SDK?
