1. Is there a mechanism for installing native processes with root for network operators / device manufacturers?

If a network operator (with a branded device) and/or an actual device
manufacturer (in other words a body who has control over exactly what
can go into the device) wished to
- install a native component onto a device which requires root
- but they don't want to include that component in the initial rom at
factory flash time
- and additionally they want the component to be packaged as a .apk
and installed in the same way a regular 3rd party app from the app
store is (i.e. without reflashing the device).

Then is there a means to achieve this? A 3rd party application
developer wouldn't be able to accomplish this, but are there special
mechanisms in place to allow this for OEMs etc.? (i.e. signing
the ,apk with a special certificate derived from a root certificate on
the device gives it elevated abilities beyond a 3rd party app, or any
other mechansim).

2. How do I refer to a drawable with a variable

I am doing an app related to football. I have a list view that will
have various rows representing teams. In my custom array adapter I
want to write some code that will present an icon for the team
represented by the row. I have a drawable resource for each team (for
instance for Indianapolis, Ind.png).

In my code I can't refer to "R.drawable.Ind" because the Ind part is
dynamic. That value would be in an array, like TeamArray[position].
As I expected, I certainly can't use R.drawable.TeamArray[position]
because it won't even compile, it expects a literal name from the
drawable folder.

Is there a way to do this?
