 Hi,

Thanks for reply. I found out the reason for the errors. Since I am new to
Android, I did not know that after making changes in .xml files I should not
try to build it ( if it was already built before ), if I do so my R.java
will not be generated properly, what I should do is just Run History and
this will dump all the things in gen folder and R.java will also be created
and will run my application.

Thanks,
Shaista

1. How to communicate between IntentReceiver and Activity?

I had try to use AIDL, but while call Context.bindService in
IntentReceiver , there is a error dialog said cann't bind service in
IntentReceiver.
How to communicate between IntentReceiver and Activity?

I had tried use Inner-class , such as :
--code--
public class TestActivity extends Activity
{
         void foo()
         {
                do something...
         }

        Class MyIntentReceiver extends IntentReceiver
        {
        public void onReceiveIntent(Context context, Intent intent)
        {
                 foo();
        }
        }
}

--code--
AndroidMainfest.xml:
receiver android:name="android.TestActivity.MyIntentReceiver">
                <intent-filter>
                <action
android:name="android.provider.Telephony.SMS_RECEIVED" />
</intent-filter>

But it's useless. That's why?How to solve it?

is there an example of an android service in the examples provided.
Specifically I'm looking for a service( application component that
runs in the background) that does network upload/download, while the
user is busy doing some other stuff.
