Android the next RIA platform?

It seems like Android would be a nice replacement for flash, silverlight,
flex, etc, for your desktop OS.

Among other things, it will probably save Google a lot of dough by
distributing a Android plugin for browsers, and then feed Youtube videos
through Android instead of Flash.

Any thoughts?

 Top idea!

I'm sold, now where do I sign :-)

Suppose you could also have an android widget to put on your desktop :-)

I'm all for it!

i would agree with you if the android plugin could run all flex based
apps too.

Worse, to run Android apps, you need the VM first, which would mean
basically just-another-java-vm-plugin ;)

1. TextView "..." when using multiple lines

I have noticed that when a textview has a fixed width (let's say
fill_parent), if the text you set doesn't fit, android adds
automatically three dots "...". But this happens only when
singleLine=true
How would I accomplish this with a textview that has singleLine=false
and maxLines=4 ?

Thank you

2. Problem of MediaRecorder setVideoSize( )

Dear all,

I tried to capture video using MediaRecorder, everything works fine
and I got the 3gp file successfully.

However, the resolution is limited ( it seems like 320 x 480 ). I am
using Google nexus one and the built-in recorder could capture much
higher resolution video.

I tried to change the recorder resolution by calling setVideoSize( )
but it doesn't work. I tested it by different parameters, including
640,480, 480, 800, etc.

Did anyone have success in using setVideoSize ?
