 Hi,
I am new to android and I need to write a device driver in Linux
kernel which would be controlled via Application in Android USer
Space. I have already developed the application, however for testing
it I need to build the kernel and update the existing kernel-qemu.

Could you please let me know the steps for the same.

Thanks in advance.

1. auto switching the tab being viewed

I sent this yesterday but it must have got lost in moderation, as i've
scanned the posts carefully and not seen my post, so resending.

I've been googleing this but no luck so far. I have a tabbedactivity with
three tabs. each tab represents an activity, and they are nested classes of
the main tabbed activity class. One of my activities has a thread that
runs and gets messages from the telnet thread via a queue. Without going
into that to much essentially the issue is sometimes the board activity
realizes a game has started and creates a new board, but the person may not
be viewing the board tab, he may be in the console tab reading new chat
messages, and what I'm trying to do is switch him to the board tab when a
game starts. See he can send a request for a game and be waiting for someone
to respond, and be watching the new chat in the console view rather than
being in his board view, but ideally i want to switch him to the board
activity/tab on new game.

Since the board tab has a thread running, maybe there is just a line of code
i can stick into a handler ( using a handler since the thread cant touch the
UI itself ) that brings that activity, tab to the front or selected.

2. List of Android Devices with specifications to use in Emulator

Hi,
I'm going to try something here, and hopefully it'll work.

I've written a few apps and occasionally I'll have someone email me
saying it doesn't work correctly on their phone. As I don't have
access to their phone I try and recreate their device in the emulator
by using the same Android version, screen size, and whatever else I
think is important.

Until now I've been keeping a list of all the different specifications
of the devices, as I couldn't find a good list online. So I figure
today I'd put what little research I've done into a spreadsheet and
share it with the Android community. What I also hope is that people
will start to add devices that I'm missing.

So please take a look at this spreadsheet and fill free to edit it (in
a sensible way). If there is another column of data you would like to
add then feel free and hopefully any blanks will be filled in.

Thanks
Andrew

P.S Of course in a perfect world we shouldn't need such as list as our
apps should just work on any Android device, but I've noticed a few
minor quirks which have annoyed me in the past.
