 Hi,
I am new to android and I need to write a device driver in Linux
kernel which would be controlled via Application in Android USer
Space. I have already developed the application, however for testing
it I need to build the kernel and update the existing kernel-qemu.

Could you please let me know the steps for the same.

Thanks in advance.

1. launching other apps

Is it possible to launch other apps from my app like the application
launcher or home screen do?

I don't want to try a home replacement app.

At least would a widget on home screen be able to launch other
applications?

Also can a widget on the (default) home screen receive swipe events
(before a touch event) ?

2. Map Not Working On Device Working on Emulator

Greetings,

I got a simple application where I create a certain Geopoint and
animate to it brining the map center to the geopoint created like the
following:

 // This is the Current location to be pointed at
GeoPoint point = new GeoPoint(3688573, -76.30486);

// Animate the map to the location specified
mc.animateTo(locode);
mc.setZoom(20);
mapView.setSatellite(true);
mapView.invalidate();

where:
----------
 private MapController mc;
 MapView mapView;

The problem is that the Code works perfectly on the Emulator but when
I run the map on the device it starts in a default location and would
never change. In other words, animateTo() function is NOT working.

Please help,

thanks
