Linux (Xandros eeepc) running eclipse ganymede with the ADT plugin.

I've selected the android sdk directory in Windows->preferences-
and google api's).

so far so good.

next I got to the android project wizard but there are no build
targets in the box below the project name - as soon as I begin typing
a project name, i get a new error at the top saying An SDK Target must
be specified. I've read the previous post about creating AVD's but
not really sure as to how this will help.

The list of targets in the New Android Project Wizard should be the
same as in the Windows > Pref > Android. I mean really it's the same
code. Are you sure that in the same session, you open the pref you see
the 3 targets then close that, go to the project wizard and the list
is empty?

If that's the case, can you look into the workspace/.metadata/.log
file (or Windows > View > Error Log) to see if there's any unexpected
error listed?

I too am running the same setup as rickbaker73. i have installed the
1.5 sdk, ADT 0.9 and running on Eclipse 3.4 on Xandros eeepc. In
Android Preferences I see the 3 targets. I have also used the Android
AVD Manager to create an AVD.

The problem is that when I create a New Android Project my build
targets list are empty. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 Go to:
Eclipse -> Window -> Preferences -> Android -> SDK Location

Give the root folder where you extracted your Android SDK.
eg. C:\Android\android-sdk-windows-1.5_r2

It should work.

Let me know.

It is supposed to be a simple task to download the SDK. I downloaded
the SDK for the windows XP. After unzipping the SDK, all I see is
AnFade.class, anfy.class, Lware.class and METS-INF. I do not see any
other software along with it. What I am doing wrong? I do not know how
to proceed.

The Android 1.5r3 SDK has 7,735 files in it.

Either you were unsuccessful downloading the whole file (should be
191477853 bytes) or your tool for unzipping the file is having difficulty.

You have not downloaded the Android SDK. You have downloaded some
random Java applet called "Anfy" that has something to do with
manipulating images.

Please download the *Android* SDK from here:

Other Threads

1. CallFromWrongThread Exception

I got this exception (CallFromWrongThread) raised from ViewRoot when
executing the android emulator.
What I'm doing is that I'm accessing a ViewText this way:

  String s = "something interesting";
  TextView msgTextView = (TextView) findViewById(;
msgTextView.setText(s); // the exception is raised here

This code is in the 'run' function of a Thread object called in the
onCreate main function.
I can't find any documentation on this exception and even though the
name is quite explicit, I don't get how a thread can be wrong when
accessing a View object.

  Thanks for your help.

2. Does Android need a more compelling/smoother user interface? (consumer view)

After looking at the latest Palm Pre videos I thought about what will
the normal customers like more in terms of user interface. Second I
thougt will we ever see such smooth animations and scrolling on the
normal user interface like shown on the Palm Pre? (video:
) And third perhaps we will see that on Android but will it be
possible on the G1? And why is browing so "non smooth" on the current
Android release running on the G1?

Just some thoughts and questions from a normal consumer view. What do
you think about it?
