I've made an app the processes preview frames from the camera.

It works fime in every single phone except the Samsung SPH M900.

This phone seems to be on 1.5 firmware. When I query the camera
preview format it returns "19" which is neither YCbCr_420_SP or
YCbCr_422_SP or any other documented format. (see
and )

Does anyone know what format is this phone using? It is truly amazing
that a manufacturer would decide to break the standards like this.

1. Updating the view from an external thread

As a workaround, is there a good way to detect whether your activity's
window is displayed on screen?

The following seems to help somewhat, but isn't bulletproof:

        if (( getWindow().isActive()) && (null != peekDecorView())) {

2. Find me Here application for Android integrating GPS, Maps, Mail, etc.

My significant other and I both have Blackberry's with GPS. It would
be very nice to push a button that transmits my location in lat/long
to her device, which could then generate get a set of driving
instructions to my location. Even better, would be real-time updates
so that we could see each other's location on our devices

This would be a neat application for Android devices, since it would
mesh together maps, mail, access control lists, etc.

The same implementation could be used for passive tracking of family
members (again with suitable permissions)
