 Is there anyone know how to mount the SD as USB mass storage from an
android app programmatically when it is connected to a PC? It is
unacceptable for the use case I am working on to ask the user to go to
the "notification" screen to manually click "mount" button. Your help
will be highly appreciated.

1. Free vs. Paid Package Names

I'm trying to manage how I would change my previously free application
into two different applications and I'm debating between the following

1.) Manually change the package name in Manifest and correct all of my
references to R when I build my free version.
2.) Simply build both versions with the same package name. I'm hoping
that when someone bought the paid version that the database would stay
and just the program code would change.

I'm leaning towards option 2 right now since it's easier to maintain.
I'm internationalized so changing the package name on R isn't trivial
and Google generates the class with the final modifier.

Any advice is appreciated.

2. HelloWebView - WebViewClient odd behaviour

Hi everybody,

Have been going through the HelloWebView tutorial. First I did all the
coding my self. Went perfectly fine. Loaded the Google address. Then I
added the code for HelloWebViewClient. As soon as I added the
webview.setWebViewClient(new HelloWebViewClient()); I end up getting
nothing but black in the content area.

After working a bit with it, I reversed everything, and copied the
code from the tutorial. Same behaviour. If I take the aforementioned
line of code out, then it works again.

Does anyone have a clue to why this is happening?

Kind regards,

public class HelloWebView extends Activity {
    /** Called when the activity is first created. */
    private WebView webview;

    public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {

        webview = (WebView) findViewById(;
        webview.setWebViewClient(new HelloWebViewClient());

    private class HelloWebViewClient extends WebViewClient {
        public boolean shouldOverrideUrlLoading(WebView view, String
url) {
            return true;
