 Is it possible to have two application tags (<application>) in the
same AndroidManifest.xml file ?

If yes - is there anything special that needs to be done, I am trying
it, the syntax is accepted by the XML parser but when I install my
second application is not available.

 You want to have two applications in your application? Why not make
the other application a separate application?

I'm not sure if the xml would let you and all that, but I why would
you want to?

 No, you can only have one application tag. Why exactly do you want to have
multiple tags?

 What you can do is to have multiple launcher activities in one
application, with

            <intent-filter>
                <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" />
                <category
android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" />
            </intent-filter>

As far as I know you'd get multiple entries then in the launcher.

1. Specs say High Resolution Application Icon has alpha, it doesn't

There is an updated post titled "Graphic Assets for your Application"
at

http://market.android.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1078870

for the hi-res app icon it says:

Specs: 512x512, 32-bit PNG with alpha; Max size of 1024KB.

But the Market console says (no alpha) and the preview does not show
the alpha, so what is it?

2. Android market (High res) icon

Hi,

I have noticed that there's a new high-res icon field in the market console.
Does anyone know what that's for?

I have tested this new field, and I can tell for sure that it was ignored when
rendering the android market icon. Maybe that it will get used after a market
upgrade...

Furthermore, I have had problems with the market icon. After various tests, I
have realized that it is always the mdpi icon, scaled to some random size (51px,
etc..), even if there's a hdpi icon, and whatever device I used.

But I see some icons which seem to be pixel-sharp. Is this just an illusion or
is there a trick?

TIA
