I have a spinner which I would like to add a blank option to so that
by default no choice is selected. I've looked around and in the
Spinner class, but I can't see how to do this. I am just wondering if
there is a method already for doing this.

Thanks for any ideas.

If you're populating your Spinner with a string array I would just
make one item in the array a blank string.

1. Contact Listener implementation

Hi Guys

I am beginner in Android. I want to implement the listener for the
contacts in the android's addressbook. The logic is that I should get
the contacts when they are added , modified or deleted.

I have registered the Content Observer for this. But it gives only the
notification not the detail of the contact that has been added.

Can anybody help me with this.

Thanx in advance

Just as a heads up to those trying to create their first app.If you
successfully signed your application, uploaded it to a web host, and
you're trying to install it but you receive the "Install Unsuccessful"
error -- then this should help.

1) If you're on a shared host, make sure you create a .htaccess with
the following line in it (for mime type):

AddType application/ apk

2) You did this, and still receive the error? You most likely don't
have a .apk file that matches the application name. For example: My
app name is "Sample". My .apk is named "SampleTest.apk". This will
throw the error since the app name is different from the apk name.
Make your .apk file "Sample.apk" to match the app name and it should

Anyway, hopefully that helps someone.
