Request for potential research areas.

There were a lot of ideas discussed in the android-discuss group. In
particular looks for posts dated around Feb - Apr 2008 (ADC1 timeline).

Some ideas:

To send out emergency signals during disasters, and when networks are down.
To sense emergency situations and send out distress calls.
To locate and track kids.
To go green. Share rides, locate public transports etc.,
To save time. Find nearest restaurants and reserve tables etc.,
Location based contextual information. Get relevant stuff as you move around
your location.
Social Networking - discover exciting new networks in your location.
Travel - Use camera, sensor, google earth etc., and find out real geo
location infos.

Given Android capabilites like bluetooth, gps, accelerometer etc., you have
to think a bit and see how these capabilites can be applied in alleviating
real life problems.

As i said, search the android-discuss group for more ideas. Good luck.

take care,
Muthu Ramadoss.

1. AudioPolicyManager

In the current implementation given in AudioPolicyManager the BT
headset has got the highest priority and DEVICE_OUT_WIRED_HEADSET has
got the second priority.

Priority means:When both are connected then the audio will come from
BT headset and if you remove BT headset audio will come from
DEVICE_OUT_WIRED_HEADSET.

I wanted to change the priority(wanted to give high priority to
DEVICE_OUT_WIRED_HEADSET instead of BT headset) but just changing
getDeviceForStrategy() function will not change the priority as we
need to take care of situation below:

a. when both are connected
b. remove the DEVICE_OUT_WIRED_HEADSET,this should transfer the audio
streams from WIRED_HEADSET to BT headset.

Please suggest the changes required to get this done apart from the
change in getDeviceForStrategy function.

2. Which View/Layout does the Market app (1.6) details activity use?

That is a misconception. Try using your D-pad or trackball or whatever
on that screen. You will find that the comments, the three items below
the "About the developer" heading, and the "Flag as inappropriate" row
are all selectable. Hence, I'm reasonably certain this is a ListView
overall.

It is useful anyplace where you have the need for a ListView where the
content does not all come from a single adapter. That could be headings.
That could be a mix of fixed rows (e.g., "Flag as inappropriate") and
data-driven rows (e.g., the comments). It could be both. It could be
something else.

If the non-header rows are to be selectable and/or clickable, then you
probably want to use a ListView. If not, a ScrollView should work.

You cannot have scrollable things inside scrollable things. Hence, you
cannot have a ListView inside of a ScrollView, for example.
