Android Xml / Widget reference?

 Hey.

To be plain, the android / xml widget reference material is poor at
best. Rather than approaching the controls from an xml point of view,
its all driven from a class point of view, which is clunky when you
want to figure out how to build a good xml UI.

Is there any decent documentation with design in mind (tag names,
attribute names, etc) or is it just figure it out and struggle through
the best you can?

I'm on my 2nd android app and losing patience with hunting and pecking
for the correct attributes / tags.

Any help would mean great appreciation from me and major karma in the
next life.

Android Xml / Widget reference?

 XML tags map to classes. Just look at the documentation of the control
you want and it should show the list of valid XML attributes at the
top with their Java API equivalent (for instance:
 http://developer.android.com/reference/android/widget/FrameLayout.html )

1. Where can I get com.google.googlenav Package

Oh yes, googlenav. That's gold, and there's several people including
myself that could add great value to their apps with it. googlenav
also provides location based search. It was included in m3 and was not
made available any longer starting m5.

2. parsing xml data

Hi everyone

I am trying to parse some data (wrapped in a String), that has xml
format
following is the code that I am using, with no much succes so far :(

    private void parseXml(String str)
    {
        XMLReader myReader=null;

        System.setProperty
("org.xml.sax.driver","org.xmlpull.v1.sax2.Driver");

         try
         {
           myReader = XMLReaderFactory.createXMLReader();
         }
         catch (SAXException e)
         {
                 Log.i("activity","error  = "+e.toString());
         }

        try
        {
                myReader.parse(str);
        }
        catch (IOException e)
        {
                Log.i("activity","error  = "+e.toString());
        }
        catch (SAXException e)
        {
                Log.i("activity","error  = "+e.toString());
                //it fails here!!!
        }

}

when I do myReader.parse(str), I get the following error:
java.io.FileNotFoundException
I guess is because it's trying to acces a file, but what I am trying
to parse is just some data that I have in the String variable, not a
file...

can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks a lot
