Swipe "tab" view

 Hi All,

I want to make a View which takes up part of the screen, is swipable
(swipeable?) but where each screen width section may scroll vertically
(i.e. have a different length of content from the others).

Above it there'd be a header and tabs (to give an alternative to a
swipe gesture for non-touchscreen devices).

Is creating a view that's screen width and the needed height for each
the way to go? Then make a layout that has those views in it and
panning that layout?

I searched the list, but nothing I found dealt with varying height
content across pages.

Cheers,

Alan.

1. Starting a new Task for every TabHost tab

I am experimenting with using a TabHost, with a separate Task running
in each Tab. This appears to work, however, when I log out
getTaskId() on the various lifecycle methods, I see that the Task ID
is "-1" for all of the Tasks that I start at the root of each tab.

I'm wondering what a Task ID of "-1" means. I'm guessing it might
mean that this Activity is a child activity of the parent tab
ActivityGroup? And if this is the case, it would generally mean that
I cannot start a new Task for each Tab selected?

I don't like the idea of using Tabs in the first place, but I'd like
some UI for the user to launch from. Menus won't cut it here. Does
it make sense to just put a button-bar at the footer of each of my
activities to allow the user to quickly jump to that "simulated tab"
and move to that Task? I definitely want separate Tasks so I get
separate back-stacks.

If anyone has built this style of navigation, I would appreciate
hearing different options.

2. Build 2 apk same time?

Hello Developers,

I am building an app using jenkins/ hudson. My application is using 2 URLs,
first for lab testing and another one is for production.
We have 2 teams one is in US and another one is in JAPAN for testing.
So I need to create 2 apks same time.
Right now what I am doing is

I change my file to point LAB url and build it. name the apk as
*-lab-release.apk.

then

I change my file to point PRODUCTION url and build it. name the apk as
*-prod-release.apk.

is there any dynamic way to read URL ? for example can i read URL from any
XML file dynamically during build process?

Thanks
