 Hi all
I'm trying to compile cfg80211, mac80211 and ath5k modules
Why they aren't include in myandroid/vendor/asus/eee_701/modules?
There is some tecnical reason?

However i've tried to compile the module with this kernel
 http://android.git.kernel.org/?p=kernel/common.git ;a=snapshot;h=b6922faa7d617f11440ab8096b8797ccdcebd10d;sf=tgz
that is the kernel specified in
"myandroid/vendor/asus/eee_701/kernel.version" (2.6.25)

i have compiled the modules with"make menuconfig" and "make modules"
and the default Makefile

when i try to load them in adroid there is an error:
"No version for "struct_module" found : kernel tainted
version magic '2.6.25 SMP mod_unload 586' should be '2.6.25-00101-
gb6922fa SMP preempt mod_unload PENTIUMM'"

I think that the problem is in Makefile...where can i find the
original Makefile?

Thank you and sorry for my bad english

No technical reason other than lack of time an my part.

They weren't included in there because the eeepc product was really meant as
a proof of concept of android on x86 (and non-phone) and a starting point
for the community. I just wanted to illustrate how one would go about
getting it going on a eeepc-like device (call it netbook, mid, fnord or what
have you). There are certainly many things missing (i.e. it's not ready for
prime time).

You probably meant to do:
cd mykernel
cp <wherever myandroid is/myandroid/vendor/asus/eee_701/kernel.config
.config
make oldconfig
make menuconfig (and select the other options you need)
make zImage modules

--Dima

No netbook it is copyrighted :)

Ok...i have tried this also...but the problem was i915 modules that in
the android kernel source doesn't support modeset option...i will try
with source from freedesktop and with the patch in "drm-patch"
directory

 Dear all,

You should recompile whole kernel with ath5k enabled, not just for
drivers.

You can take a look to my blog(sorry, in Chinese),

I have installed Android on my EEEPC S101 successfully, and the Wi-Fi
works fine.

Or better... It doesn't work just enabling atk5 support.

When enabling Wifi in Android, it tries to insert a module located at /
system/lib/modules/wlan.ko. So you need the wlan.ko module.

So recompiling kernel with atk5 support as module, copying it in the
right location and naming it wlan it should work?

1. Not able to build Browser Source Code on android-sdk-windows-1.0_r1

Hi All

I am trying to build the Browser source code downloaded from the
http://android.git.kernel.org/ site
with android-sdk-windows-1.0_r1.
I am getting a lot of compilation errors and it seems that many
classes are missing in 1.0 which are being used by the Browser.

I am stuck into this and not able to figure a way out.
Let me know if I am missing anything.
Waiting desperately 4 a reply.

TIA

2. recovery, bootloader and diskinstaller

Other than the brief comments in recovery.c and firmware.c, are there
more detailed documents explaining the android startup process, from
power on to opening screen? I don't necessarily care about the G1
implementation details but am interested in the android-specific
features. In designing a new android-based device, I'd like to boot,
recover, update, etc. the "android" way, but I'm having a difficult
time understanding what the android way is versus the functionality
that might be proprietary to t-mobile.

Some questions include: what does the G1 use as a bootloader? Is
diskinstaller used to configure a "blank" G1 (i.e. nothing in flash)
at first power? Comments indicate that the recovery tool uses
commands written to and read from /cache/recovery/..., but code
(recovery.c) seems to show that the bootloader commands are read from
and written to the "misc" partition? How do bootloader and recovery
command mechanisms work? How do they differ? What is the "radio
image" and what is the "hboot image"? How does "firmware" differ from
other images that are updated? Is /cache used as a yaffs2 filesystem
sometimes and as a raw storage area at other times?

Sorry for all the questions - just trying to get a handle on how
booting and updating really work, and whether these models are the
preferred way to move forward.

Thanks.
