 Hello friends

I have a question. Presently I am working on an application where I have to
open various types of files. The type includes .txt, .pdf, .bmp, .png ,
.doc, .xls
Can you please tell me that is there any one component which can do work for
all.

In iPhone sdk apple provided a UIWebView component. We can use this
component to open all type of file.

If in Android that component is not available then please tell me how we can
open the pdf and MSOffice files.

Thanks

Pankaj Bisaria

Buy programs that run on Android that open PDF and MS Office files. I
know there are PDF viewers available, and I seem to recall DataVis was
going to be releasing MS Office viewers at some point for Android.

 I still have not come across a descent pdf reader for Android. I would like
to find one so I can read Mark's books on the subway (actually). If anyone
has a good recommendation ... last I checked the ones in the market are not
ready for prime time.

Well, what you *really* need is for me to get off my <bleep> and add
EPUB editions. Then, FBReaderJ, or maybe some future port of Stanza, or
something should be able to read them.

I'm not aware of a Mobipocket reader for Android; otherwise, you could
try using the Kindle editions with that.

 Thanks Mark For your reply,

You told me to buy a program. Are you talking about any Paid api ?
I am developing an application for a client which wants me to open these
files in the application.

I am talking about Android viewers for the file formats you specified.
If the viewers were well-written for Android, they should respond to
some form of Intent to have them view files you specify.

Whether or not any such viewers exist that meet your qualifications, I
cannot say.

1. tablerow mixed with columns and multiline text

The complete problem can be found here:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2759877/android-tablerow-mixed-with-columns-and-multiline-text

I am trying to have a tablelayout contains several tablerows. One of the
rows contains 4 buttons, while the second row contains a very long text.
However, the width of the button stretches with the text in the second row.
Is there anyway to prevent this?

2. SocketTimeoutException: Read Timed Out Occurs Only via Mobile

Hi all--

I'm receiving "SocketTimeoutException: Read Timed Out" errors in my client
app when attempting to post image data to a central server over HTTPS.
What's odd is that I cannot reproduce the error when posting data from my
local machine (via the emulator) to the same server. Increasing the
SO_TIMEOUT value seems to only prolong the amount of time it takes for the
timeout exception to occur. I am very new to using the Apache HTTP API -
what am I missing?

HttpClient httpClient = new DefaultHttpClient();
HttpConnectionParams.setSoTimeout(httpClient.getParams(), 15000);
HttpConnectionParams.setConnectionTimeout(httpClient.getParams(), 15000);
HttpPost post = new HttpPost("https://....");

...

HttpResponse response = httpClient.execute(post); // Exception occurs here

...

httpClient.getConnectionManager().shutdown();  // Closes the connection
successfully?

TIA
Paul
