Nothing new about people pirating apps, but this guy is actually
trying to pass himself off as a legitimate Google and T-Mobile site:

The "Official T-Mobile My Touch 3G Fan Page"

 http://sites.google.com/site/officialmytouch3gfanpage/calendar

where you can download "Free Paid Apps".

Google, can you please shut this guy down?

Thank you,
Steve

1. Unprotected root shel

I recently got an ADP1,
one of the first applications i tried is Terminal Emulator by Google.

Entering 'su' at the prompt is sufficient to get a root shell, without
any password.

Isn't that a security issue?
For example, can't another application obtain the same privileges and
do whatever on my phone?
Moreover the only 'permission' required by the terminal app is
'network access',
'root access' is not mentioned..

I suppose this is possible for ADP1 only,
but since i use mine as a main phone, can i turn this off?
(i.e. require a password at least)

2. Root access to get access to wpa_supplicant.con

Hi,

I work in a college and am doing research on the Android OS and the G1
phone. The wireless network i am accessing uses WPA2 Enterprise and
PEAP. I see that i can get access to the network (hopefully) by
editing the wpa_supplicant.conf file like in linux, I have the
settings for the network from another linux device. My problem is i
can't get access to root (or do i even need to??) to edit the file.
any ideas? i have the terminal emulator which seems useless since i
don't have access to anything i need.

It is an android Dev phone.

Bulid number: holiday_devphone_eu_userdebug 1.1 unlocked 130444 test-
keys
Kernel Version : 2.6.25-01845-g85d4f0d

Hope someone can help!..if you need any more info i can provide it, i
am no linux whizz though :P

Thanks,

David
