 Hi
I am new to this group. I am trying to install android-x86 (generic-x86
target) in my Thinkpad T400 series laptop.
I got latest android-x86 source from http://www.android-x86.org/ and built
it for generic-x86 target.
It works well if I install and run it in my laptop. No problem at all when
running it in the laptop directly. However if I run it on top of kvm-qemu in
ubunutu - 9.10 (I used the standard kvm-qemu that came with ubuntu-9.10),
when I boot the 'android-x86 generic-x86 target live cd' in kvm-qemu,
sometime after getting the GUI, I get this error following which QEMU stops.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Error in QEMU window*
Plex86/Bochs VGABios (PCI) current-cvs 02 Nov 2009
This VGA/VBE Bios is released under GPL
Please visit
 http://bochs.sourceforge.net
 http://nongnu.org/vgabios

cirrus-compatible vga is detected

*Error in command line*
kvm: unhandled exit 7
kvm_run returned -22
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

having the grub argument "vga=788" also did not help.
It would be great if someone could tell me how to overcome this problem.

Hello.

I'm trying to use a table layout inside a linear layout. My problem is that
everything inside the table layout is not appearing on the screen. My code
is below, what do I need to change to make it work? Thanks!

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

<LinearLayout xmlns:android=" http://www.***.com/ ;

android:orientation="vertical"

android:layout_width="fill_parent"

android:layout_height="fill_parent"

<TextView

android:id="@+id/pictitle"

android:layout_width="fill_parent"

android:layout_height="wrap_content"

android:layout_marginTop="10dip"

android:text="Take a Picture" />

<SurfaceView android:id="@+id/camsurface"

android:layout_width="fill_parent"

android:layout_height="10dip"

android:layout_weight="1">

</SurfaceView>

<TableLayout

android:id="@+id/tablelayout"

android:layout_width="fill_parent"

android:stretchColumns="*"

android:layout_width="wrap_content"

android:layout_height="wrap_content"

android:text="Snapshot" />

<Button android:id="@+id/next1"

android:layout_width="wrap_content"

</TableLayout>

2. getting all the resources from other apks

Hi,
i was able to play around with the resource on a different apk and get them
using createPackageContext as you suggested.
here is an example of the code:
otherAppContext =
this.createPackageContext("com.android.demo.notepad2",Context.CONTEXT_INCLUDE_CODE
+ Context.CONTEXT_IGNORE_SECURITY);
int resID = otherAppContext.getResources().getIdentifier("icon", "drawable",
"com.android.demo.notepad2");

this works well.
now i am trying to get ALL the drawables (or all the layouts) in this
package. i tried a multitude of ways including reflection and AssetManager
but was unsuccessful. any tips here?
just to be clear i can not use R.drawable.icon as this is a different
context
