Why? I visited a Google Technology Usergroup meeting where Google
handed out Nexus phones to all visitors, and they were identical to
the one that I had ordered from their online store.

Is there a reason to why you expect it to be different from the one
that you can order?

I'd be suprised if it didn't have some kind of "Device Seeding"
inscription on the back of the Nexus, but apart from that it's in
their interest to make it no different to the device the paying public
can buy.

Google has special developer versions of some phones.

I have the ADP1, and it's got a cool print on the back of the case.
Granted, that was advertised as a developer phone, and pictures and
information on the web showed it was different, but I wondered if
developers would get something special again.

I only ask because I bought a Nexus One on eBay hours before I got the
email from Google about the free phone. If the one from Google is
different, I'll sell the one I have here, still in the box, and wait
for the one from Google. But if they're the same, I might as well open
this one, and sell the one from Google when I get it.

Waiting is not easy. :)

1. App To Turn Screen Upside Down While Phone Is Closed

I have one of those cheap plastic cellular phone stands that I've used
to stand all my previous phones upright on my desk. However, my G1 has
the plug at the bottom of the phone. So, I'm forced to rest my phone
in the stand upside down. I'm wondering if anybody has seen an app
that will turn my screen 180 degrees while the phone is closed.

2. Trouble passing a KML file to the DDMS Location Emulator

I'm sure this must be a simple/dumb thing I'm doing wrong, as I'm
unable to find anyone else posting about this problem...so, my
apologies in advance if this is a stupid question.

Basically, I'm trying to send mock location data to the Android
Emulator via the DDMS application. I can successfully send locations
one by one, using the "Manual Location" tab in DDMS. However, I can't
get *any* KML files to even show up in DDMS when I load them...I have
tried many different KML files, including the simple example files
provided by Google.

I am pretty sure I am doing something wrong, as I am quite new to
Android. For example, I can't even get the DDMS window built in to
Eclipse to show me the location-spoofing screen. I am running DDMS
from the console.

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to offer!

Best,

AKA
