I can't get the android sdk working in eclipse. I followed the
installation guide, but when I point android preferences to my android
sdk lib under "Window > preferences > android" I get the following

"Error loading the SDK

Error: Error parsing the SDK.
/home/anders/opt/android-sdk-linux_x86-1.1_r1/plartforms is missing"

 It seems like you have outdated SDK. New eclipse add-on (starting from
v. 0.9.0) doesn't recognize SDK 1.1. However, if you need to develop
for SDK 1.1 you simply set target name to android 1.1 and reference
1.1. library from your application. This should work.

1. Google Visualizations don't render in Android browser.

My company uses Visualizations to draw dynamic charts (not images).
These display properly in every other webkit browser (including mobile
safari). For some reason they charts do not display in the android
browser (they do however work in Opera mini).

I'm happy to share my code/samples with any dev willing to work on
this. Right now I have to tell my customers to use a Palm or iPhone to
get mobile access to their analytics.

2. (un)registerReceiver not giving expected results.

Hi all,

I would like to register a broadcast receiver on onStart of an
activity and then unregister the receiver when the activity gets
onStop called. When I debug I see that both of these calls are made
when I expected, but for some reason, my broadcast receiver keeps
handling intents.

Can someone please enlighten me as to why the receiver is still
processing intents, even when I have called unregistered the receiver?

Best regards,

public class Main extends Activity {
        private static final String SMS_RECEIVED

        SMSReceiver r;
        IntentFilter smsFilter ;
        int resume = 0;
        int pause = 0;

        public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
                r = new SMSReceiver();
                smsFilter = new IntentFilter();

        protected void onStart() {
                this.registerReceiver(r, smsFilter);

        protected void onStop() {

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<manifest xmlns:android=""
    <application android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/
        <activity android:name=".Main"
                <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" />
