1. IMX31 warning msg: "unable to open an initial console"

Hail to all experts,

I'm getting a error message and stopped (msg at bottom) while booting
up the system. I have a read through on init\main.c and found the
error message pop up right before accessing "/dev/console":

if (sys_open((const char __user *) "/dev/console", 0_RDWR, 0) < 0)
  printk(KERN_WARNING "Warning: unable to open an initial console.

I linked .../mydroid/out/target/product/generic/root/ to initramfs in
kernel config. But when I navigate to .../generic/root/dev/ it is
completely empty inside.

Is there suppose to be file "console" or something else in there? Am I
building Android Source incorrectly?

Please help. Thank you.

2. Copy File to file system

I have a simple problem. I want to put a file into my applications
apk, and upon installation I would like to copy this file into the
device filesystem. Does anyone know how to do this?

 For backup purposes, I want this file to remain inside the apk, and
from searching the android groups I can see you can not do that
