 Hi all..
ANDROID , as they say, is a robot which behaves like a human. I don't
know why GOOGLE chose this name for it's mobile platform.. Anyways, i
am new to this platform.. 3 days old.. but havea fair amount of
knowledge in java basics.. i have read the fundamentals of ANDROID
basics as well and have almost understood almost 75% of the features
of android. Now i want to start developing some applications. i am
actually working on a project which deals with booking cabs thru ur
mobile.. Help me out guys how to begin the practical development after

1. Cached GPS info?

Hi there,

I'm thinking about buying an HTC Hero for usage in the US. I don't plan
to use it with 3G so I guess I'm fine. However, then I'm wondering, can
I use the GPS feature only when I'm connected via WiFi? Is there a way
to download GPS maps of a certain city to have them cached in the SD
card for its usage when there's no data connection?

2. Mini Dev Camp, Sunday in SF

Hi! I'm interested in getting together with a few people in San
Francisco this Sunday to write Android apps.

Two weeks ago I went to iPhone Dev Camp. Last weekend, Pre Dev Camp.
I'd like to make a clean sweep and build an Android app this weekend.

If anybody would like to join me and a pal or two in that effort,
please contact me off list. It was a lot of fun to be with a group of
people all hacking on similar things, and trading tips with people
helped me make way more progress than I would have on my own.

I've already borrowed a developer phone, which I'm happy to share so
everybody can test on a real device.
