 I'm having some problems displaying a PNG in an ImageView.

I am loading the image from the file system via:

     ...
     mImageView.setImageBitmap(BitmapFactory.decodeStream(
             getClass().getResourceAsStream("image_name")));
     ...

The image shows up in the ImageView, but it's pixelated.

If I haven't given enough details, just let me know...

Any ideas?

 Yep... If I put the image in the 'res/drawables' directory, all looks
as expected. I only see this if loading the image from the file-
system.

Can someone try the following for me?

Run the APIDemos PurgeableBitmap example - under Graphics.
See how fast you run out of memory in the nonpurgeable case.
See if you make it through the purgeable case without an
OutOfMemoryError.

I have my suspicions on something there.
