1. Chronometer + Eclipse = NullPointerException in layout view

Disclaimer: I'm just starting with Android.

I'm using Eclipse with the Android development tools. When I add a
Chronometer to my layout xml, either by typing it, pasting it from an
online example, or using the widget to add a new element, the Layout
view breaks: When I switch to the layout view it only shows
"NullPointerException: null" where the preview should be. I've tried
adding and removing various valid attributes, but nothing works.
Running the app shows the chronometer, but considering my app will
have a dozen or more on screen at once, I could really use the layout
preview. I suspect a bug in the tools. Anyone else seen this? Is there
a workaround?

2. Downloading Android apps

I just got a G1 with T-Mobile, & was looking for apps--I found the
list of 50 who won Google contest, & the Android Market & a site for
101bestAndroidApps.com. But the only one I have actually been able to
download & install is the Weather Channel. I've been able to read
about the others, but not download, on the Android Marketplace & on
their sites.

The Android help says that in the Android Market place, "If you want
to install the item, select either the Install or Buy button." but I
am not seeing these options on there anywhere. I was able to find it
for the Weather Channel by following the link to their site. There
were a FEW which had links to download for Sprint, Verizon, Cingular,
but I found NONE with T-Mobile links. I also was looking on my
desktop in Chrome & found same. Am I blind, or missing something?
