3rd. JSON can be unmarshalled directly to POJOs.
And stored verbatim in file or preferences as long term

1. Can't register Dev Phone over wireless?

Am I correct that one can't do anything with the Android Dev Phone 1
until putting a sim card with data plan into it?

I would think people other than me bought these phones as development/
test devices, and didn't intend to use them as phones. It seems evil
to force registration (and registration on resets) through a sim card
when the device is sold based on its open/unlocked nature.
