1. Android Meetup in Research Triangle Park, NC area - Wed, Nov 18

What: Triangle Android Developers first meetup
Where: Panera Bread, 2234 Walnut Street, Cary, NC
When: Wed, Nov 18, 7:00pm

Android hack night to get acquainted. Drop in whenever you can make it
- this is freeform{*filter*} out and hacking. Bring your laptop and the
latest version of your code and let's jump right in. Location TBD -
where in the Triangle area do you want it to be? I started out with
Panera because it has free wifi and amazing Cinnamon Crisp bagels, but
I'm open to suggestions!

Description of Group:
This group is for Android application developers who want to hang out
and hack on code together or share their latest work. Together we

* Improve as developers by sharing lessons learned.
* Get a new set of eyes looking at problems in our apps.
* Get user reactions to apps we're working on.
* Promote developing for the open Android platform as opposed to that
other proprietary mobile phone.

Anyone trying to get started as a developer is welcome, as well as
anyone needing help with coding or wanting to show off what they've
done on Android. If there's enough interest we could also have formal
talks and such. Ideas are welcome.

This could be a weekly gathering, or bi-weekly, or monthly - we'll see
what folks are interested in.

2. ADC2 Judging app is breathing again

Seems that Google has resurrected the judging app at some level. It's
still not perfect, seems to be a bit flaky, and downloads don't seem
to start very well automatically, but the FCs that made things
unusable appear to be gone.

Thanks G. It must have been a fairly complex problem to take that
long. I'm guessing some kind of combination of low-memory (seems to
be a problem on a lot of "older" 1.6 devices with less installed
memory), and incompatibility with upgrades to the market.

In any case, thanks for taking care of it. Maybe a "reannouncement"
would be worthwhile, as it appears that many many many people simply
gave up if the comments in the market are any indication...
