 Hi all!

I just want to make sure that is not only my personal experience that
the latest SDK 1.5.
Looks like 1. 5 is causing couple of serious upgrade, installation and
runtime issues.

Should we wait for some quick local patch soon?

Thanks,
Evgeny

1.5 SDK problems

I think the same, working with the Google Maps API just does not work
anymore. a simple example with a MylocationOverlay does only take ONE
position via a geo fix command. All further submit positioins are
ignored.

1. BroadcastReceiver for a Service to catch broadcast Intent ACTION_BOOT_COMPLETED

Hi

I have written a Service component within an application .apk.
I want the Service to receive the ACTION_BOOT_COMPLETE
Intent which I understand is broadcast when the android system has
finished booting.

I am unclear as to whether I need to declare the BroadcastReceiver
statically within the AndroidManifest.xml file for the application
package
via a <receiver> tag or whether I need to create it dynamically and
call Context.registerReceiver() etc. within my Service code.

Can anyone offer any advice, please?

Thanks
Graeme

2. Shared preferences not accessible in service

Hello Android,

We are using SharedPreferences(Not default preferences.) to store our
application related settings. These settings are not accessible in the
background service as the application context is different from
service context. It always returns the default values. We want to have
our own UI to manage settings. So, we don't want to use
PreferenceActivity.

Is there a way or hack to access SharedPreferences from inside a
service which are created by application?

BR,
Shaddu
