 Hi all,
My name is Vasanth Sridharan and I'm working on a story for Silicon Alley
Insider (www.alleyinsider.com) about Android Developers and what the general
feeling from the group is as we near the launch date.

There have been a lot of updates over the last week or so that have seemed
to address a lot of the concerns that developers have had with the platform
(the new SDK, the preview of Android Market, the announcement of the ADC I
winners). So my question is, are developers excited about Android again? Is
there still a lot of worry going into the first launch? Or, conversely, have
you never been been worried about the platform?

I know there are still some outstanding issues, like the Bluetooth API, so
how important are those?

Thanks,
Vasanth

 I was worried about the future of the platform and I still do worry
about the ultimate openness of it, but I must admit that I am
extremely excited about the direction it's taking and about the
impending release of the HTC Dream! The new UI in the updated
emulator is very attractive and extremely responsive. The addition of
things like StreetView to the maps in the new SDK are fantastic! My
initial excitement in the platform is reborn!

2. Get list of pnones for certain person using new ContactsContract API

Hi, friends!

I spent much time to implement my old source code (for Android 1.6)
using new ContactsContract API (Android 2.0). But I couldn't.

My application shows user dialog with list of all people presented in
"Contacts". For this goal i use such code:

            Intent intentListPeople = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_PICK,
ContactsContract.Contacts.CONTENT_URI);
            MyActivity.this.startActivityForResult(intentListPeople,
PICK_CONTACT);

After that for person, user picked in dialog, i need to get all phones
and i use them in my application.

For old android API (1.6) i used such source code:
(uriPerson - is the uri of a person, user picked in the first dailog)

       ArrayList<String> listPhones = new ArrayList<String>();

        Uri uriPhones = Uri.withAppendedPath(uriPerson,
Contacts.People.Phones.CONTENT_DIRECTORY);
        Cursor curToPhones = this.managedQuery(uriPhones, null, null,
null, null);

        if(curToPhones.moveToFirst())
        {
            int idPhoneNumberColumn =
                curToPhones.getColumnIndexOrThrow
(Contacts.PhonesColumns.NUMBER);
            while(!curToPhones.isAfterLast())
            {
                listPhones.add(curToPhones.getString
(idPhoneNumberColumn));
                curToPhones.moveToNext();
            }
        }

Please, help to implement such functionality using new
ContactsContract API.
Thank you!
