 According to the Specs it should support Real Audio formats?!?! I'm
confused as to why it would not and why there isn't a player for it
yet!!

 I saw the specs on Wikipedia and other websites.  I don't see why there
could not be a player that plays Real Audio.  I switched from the IPhone
anticipating that I could play real audio on my G1.

error.

RealAudio/RealVideo 10 are not open source. If you wish a specific
device to support those codecs, they would need to license it from
RealNetworks.

There are older RealAudio codes that may be open source via the Helix
initiative, but:

-- Last I knew, Helix's open source license wasn't Apache 2.0, but GPL,
which makes integration a bit challenging

-- They may require porting work for whatever chipsets Android intends
to support (not all ARMs are created equal)

Moreover, RealAudio tends to be used as a streaming format, and I am not
sure that they are part of the Internet streaming specifications that
OpenCORE supports.

If you are interested in contributing engineering work to have RealAudio
in Android, I suggest you start up a thread over on the
[android-platform] Google Group, as this Google Group is for
introductory questions and answers for SDK developers, not firmware
developers.

I'm not an android developer.  I'm a SQL Developer and I wish I had more
time on my hands to look at Android development because I really love the
platform. Unfortunately, when I get home the only playing around with
Android is when my son gets a hold of my phone!

I have so many audio files in rm format and I cannot convert them all.  I
used to listen to them on my windows mobile device ALL the time.  Come on
now Google, you gonna let Microsoft beat you in that?

 Unfortunately, the licensing terms are incompatible with AOSP. I'm
sure if there is enough demand, someone will create a player.

1. Android Web Browser profiling

All,

I am looking at the % of time spent on different functions of Browser.
For e.g i am let us say cnn.com takes 12 secs to load on the android
browser.
I wish to understand how much of it is being spent in CSS/XML parsing,
HTML parsing, MIME type decoding, Java Script etc. How much of time is
spent in kernel and how much in user space.

I found a lot of instrumentation in the code. But i am unable to
enable some of them.

I did enable a few in BrowserActivity.java which provides me Pageload
times that uses SystemClock.uptimeMillis(). Also i see we have
traceview methods in BrowserActivity.java, which i enabled by changing
BrowserSetting.java 'tracing' value to true.

Any ideas of how to profile webkit core functionalities?

2. Top and bottom TextView layout?

Hi everyone,

Noob question:

I was trying to create a layout with a text view aligned to the top
and another aligned to the bottom.
After reading the layout dev docs, I wrote the following:
